These pieces are inspired by traditional Chinese pen-jing, literally ‘potted landscape’. Each landscape has two components: mountains and water, or shan-shui. Each shan-shui landscape is its own world. Not a representation. An actual world. In a pot.
We made them out of paper because we like paper. And because paper is cheap, disposable and everyday: perfect for creating possibility, mystery and subtlety.
And we wrote little haikus for each of the landscapes. ‘Cos of Zen.
